Our House
Hotel Magerl ***Superior enjoys an incomparable location on the famous sunny slope at the eastern shore of Lake Traunsee.
We offer 60 comfortable rooms across 2 buildings: 42 rooms in the main house and 18 rooms in the guest house, all equipped with shower/bath, WC, phone, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and most with balcony and lake view.
On less sunny days, enjoy our indoor pool, sauna, or fitness room with modern equipment. End your day with a cool drink on our cozy sun terrace overlooking Lake Traunsee and the mountains!
Start the day with our rich breakfast buffet and explore the charming town of Gmunden and its surroundings.
For half- or full-board guests, our kitchen team serves traditional Austrian cuisine and a varied salad buffet. We are always happy to accommodate individual requests.
The History
In the Salzkammergut region, it was common to name inns after the house name rather than the landowner. “MOAR UNTERM WALD” contains two key elements: “MOAR” (Meier) indicates the site of a Meierei – a provisioning establishment for Schloss Mühlwang. “UNTERM WALD” points to its unique location at the foot of Grünberg on the sunny slope.
“MOAR UNTERM WALD”, in family ownership for 300 years, is the origin of HOTEL MAGERL ***Superior and the GÄSTEHAUS MAGERL. Both houses continue the tradition, ensuring guests’ comfort and relaxation.
